What settings should I choose in iTunes Music and Video? Sync?

We all know you can put songs and video on your iPhone, but what’s the easiest way to do it?

Should you choose to sync all your media?

Do you want to be able to add and change your playlist from any computer?

It all depends on your iTunes setup.

1 Start iTunes and connect the USB cable to your device

2 Under the DEVICES section click on your device

3 Click on Music at the top

If Sync Music is not checked, you can just drag music from your computer to your device. This means you can manually add and delete music from any computer running iTunes.

4 Drag any MP3 from your computer to your device and it will be in your device’s music.

That’s all it takes to transfer music, and video is the same process but choose it’s tab.

If Sync Music is checked, this means all music in your computer’s iTunes playlist will be synced. You can not manually add or delete songs.

If you uncheck Sync Music you will get a warning as below. It will allow you to manually manage your songs but all music will be deleted from the device first.

The same is true for your videos, so be sure of the setting you choose, it will affect how you you manage media on your device.

Choose Sync Music if you use iTunes to manage all your music. Everything in your collection will be synced to your device including playlists.

But if you don’t use iTunes or you have more than one computer and many collections of music, it’s best not to choose Sync. That way you can use any computer to add and delete music, a much easier and flexible way to manage all your media.
