The Monkey is already sick and tired of all the so called zombie games in the app store, but Zombie Highway by Renderpaz is different, it is very original and addicting. Available for both the iPhone and iPad, the Monkey recommends you get both right away while they are both free.
The story is simple. Drive down a road avoiding obstacles and killing the various zombies that jump on your vehicle and try to flip you. There are two ways to kill zombies. Shoot them with weapons or side swipe debris on the road to knock them off. Weapons get unlocked that are more powerful as you play. There is no score but the goal is to get the highest mileage, at the top you have an odometer keeping track how far you have driven. The goal is to get the highest mileage.
There are two ways to end the game, get flipped over or crash into an obstacle. At the start, the game seems very difficult until you unlock a few weapons, then it gets much more fun. Controls are super fun, hold the device like a steering wheel and turn it like a wheel.
The Monkey recommends the following to survive:
- Try to stay in the middle of the road.
- Drive like a Monkey, hard turns left and right, but hold the device upright for control.
- Save ammo, when you see a vehicle get ready to side swipe it to knock off a zombie. Even before he jumps on.
- Stay on the road, while its fun to offroad & mow down zombies, the more you slow, the easier you flip.
- Try and unlock the best weapon: BDX 8 or BDX12. Its a biological gun, one shot and zombies lose life until they die. The more you shoot the faster they lose life. Its like a virus that slowly kills them.
- If you start to tilt, turn the wheel in the direction of the tilt to recover. Do it quickly.
- The shotgun is usually useless as it takes forever to reload, stick with the BDX8, BDX12 and the M4
