After the internet was buzzing for days, Google finally announced their Gmail app for iOS.
But it was immediately pulled due to errors.
You have to wonder what a huge company like Google is thinking. When they get ready to release a major piece of software on a major platform like Apple, don’t they test this thing first?
Immediately after releasing the Gmail app everyone started to get errors and already the app is pulled from the Apple App store. How embarrassing. From what we are reading from people who actually were able to run the app, is that its not that great anyway. Complaints that it copies the Facebook app with dark colors and bad design.
Not a very good sign from a company that is trying to out do Apple with their own new mobile operating system. Its really a testament to how good a job Apple does with major upgrades like iOS 5, Mac 10.7, iCloud and of course the iPhone 4S. They can create some pretty major services, upgrade all existing ones like iPhoto to support the new features and the biggest complaint so far is a software bug that drains the battery for some. Something we can be sure will be fixed soon in a patch.
We don’t want to sound like we are not Android fans because we are. We are users of both companies, but the recent success and failures of both companies clearly draw the lines of which company is doing their homework.
