CES is in Vegas again and you can read all about the new gadgets and trends that are being announced all over the web. Unfortunately many sources are already reporting disappointing news.
Let’s look at a few of them.
Microsoft is saying it will be their last show
Why do people care? Many large companies have said that January is not in sync with their product release timelines. XBOX news has always come from the the gaming show E3 anyhow. It is a shame if they completely pull out of the show, but if a company is not ready to show us their next big thing, lets give the spotlight to those who are.
There is no single great WOW product
How can we have any great products when companies are still trying to get us to adapt sleeper products like 3D and Ultraviolet? When companies are trying to recoup losses by releasing products that don’t innovate, we as consumers are the ones that loose the most. If you look at the past few years of TVs, picture quality has gone up, prices down, but there has been no huge advancements to make us rush out and buy a new set. Companies are still struggling to convince consumers that 3D is worthwhile but few seem to care about 3D with or without glasses. In the meanwhile smaller companies like Vizio take the spotlight over huge companies like Sony as they do release innovative web connected products. All the while they waste time in fear with rumors of Apple releasing the next huge thing in TVs.
What about the major movie studios? Blu Ray discs remain largely overpriced with little in exciting features and still give us no way to legally view our content on mobile devices. Recently we’ve all been seeing the so called digital movie distribution called UltraViolet. Unfortunately like every past attempt by the studios to provide an answer to digital movies and music on the go consumers are left with useless choices. Give us something we will happily pay money for, instead they are still treating the basic consumer to superhigh prices with very poor choices.
